Is SaneBox free? The 7-day trial vs the paid plans

By Jean Luc Poitier, SEO and growth marketing strategist · SaneBox Reviews · Updated October 1, 2026

Short answer

SaneBox has no free plan. It does have a 7-day free trial with every feature on up to 4 email accounts, and it doesn't ask for a credit card, so there's nothing to cancel to avoid a charge. After the trial, plans run from $9.49 a month (Snack, billed monthly) to $42.99 a month (Dinner), and yearly or two-year billing cuts the price by about 40 to 50%.

What the SaneBox trial includes

The trial unlocks the Dinner plan's full feature set: SaneLater and SaneNews sorting, the daily Digest, SaneBlackHole, SaneNoReplies, reminders, snooze folders, and the rest, on up to four accounts. That makes it a fair test, but it also means the plan you pick afterward may have fewer features than you got used to. Snack, the cheapest plan, allows two, and SaneLater counts as one of them.

Reviewers say sorting improves over the first weeks as you move misfiled mail, so seven days is short. If you need longer, SaneBox's pricing page says to ask, and it'll extend the trial.

Which SaneBox plan to pick after the trial

Snack ($9.49 a month, $65 a year, or $109 for two years) fits one inbox where you mainly want SaneLater plus one more tool, such as SaneBlackHole. Lunch ($15.99, $109, or $179) covers a work and a personal account with six features each, enough for follow-up tracking and snoozing. Dinner ($42.99, $319, or $529) is for four accounts and every feature, and it's the only plan with phone support.

The price is the most common complaint among reviewers who otherwise like the service, so watch the account count: connecting a third or fourth address is what pushes you to Dinner. See the full SaneBox pricing breakdown.

Ways to pay less

Billing yearly or every two years is the biggest saving: Snack drops from $9.49 to $5.42 or $4.54 a month. Schools, nonprofits, and government agencies get 25% off any plan; you ask support during the trial. Referrals earn credit too: a friend who signs up with your link and you each get $5, and paying subscribers get a free month per referral.

What happens when the trial ends

Because SaneBox never takes a card for the trial, nothing is charged when it ends; you pick a plan to keep going. SaneBox's help pages don't say what happens to its folders if you don't pick one, and a few reviewers report the folders and filtering hanging on afterward. If you decide against it, close the account and choose to remove its folders. Our guide to cancelling SaneBox walks through it.
